Fig. 1 Effects of boldine on L. amazonensis infected macrophages. Peritoneal macrophages were infected with L. amazonensis amastigotes and cultured at 37°C and 5% of CO2 for 24 hr. The percentage of infected macrophages (A) and the nnumber of amastigotes per macrophage (B) were determined as described in Materials and Methods. The result represents the mean±SD of 3 experiments. The significance of the difference between cells cultures treatments is indicated: *P≤0.05.

The MTT production by macrophages was determined in cell cultures treated with several concentrations of boldine in infected murine macrophage ( ) or in non-infected murine macrophage as control ( ).
